Curcumin Benefits & 3 Turmeric Drinks

Curcumin is a  major component of turmeric & the activities of turmeric are commonly attributed to the curcuminoids, this gives  it the yellow colour. Turmeric dietary supplements are made from the dried rhizome & typically contain a mixture of curcuminoids. It has also been used for centuries as an herbal remedy to treat a variety of ailments from arthritis to digestive problems. In recent years, scientists have become increasingly interested in the potential health benefits.

Has been shown to boost the immune system. Research shows that turmeric can modulate the activation of T cells, B cells, macrophages, neutrophils, natural killer cells & dendritic cells, as well as enhance the body’s antibody responses.

Ginger & Turmeric Hot Cider: 

 

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup fresh, sweet apple cider
  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger
  • 1 tsp grated fresh turmeric
  • 1½-inch by ½ -inch strip lemon peel, white part included

Directions:

  • In a small saucepan, combine cider, ginger, turmeric and lemon peel over medium-high heat.
  • Heat until a ring of bubbles appears around the edge of the pan – about 3 minutes.
  • Cover pan & set aside to steep for 5 minutes.
  • Pour hot-spiced cider through a fine tea strainer into a mug.
  • Serve immediately.

Warm Spiced Turmeric Milk:

 

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of low-fat milk (or milk substitute)
  • ¾ tsp honey
  • ½ tsp ground turmeric
  • ¼ tsp ground cardamom
  • ¼ tsp ground ginger
  • 1 dash of vanilla extract
  • 1 dash black pepper
  • 1 pinch of ground cloves
  • 1 pinch ground allspice

Directions:

  1. Warm the milk on the stovetop.
  2. Gently whisk in remaining ingredients until dissolved.
  3. Heat on low for an additional 3-4 minutes.
  4. Pour mixture through a sieve then serve.

Try this immunity booster shot – drink daily:

Ingredients:

2 litres of water

Fresh Turmeric (1 Piece – 2 inches long)

Fresh Black Pepper Powder (1 tablespoon)

Tulsi (Holy basil) – (15-20 leaves)

Cinnamon (1 Piece – 2 inches long)

Cloves (8-10)

Fresh Ginger (2 inches long grated)

Sour Lime Juice (1 lime)

 Directions:

  1. Pour water into a deep pan, put it on medium heat on stovetop.
  2. Add all the ingredients one by one & let boil for 15-20 minutes till the water is reduced to 1 litre.
  3. Take of stove & strain
  4. Store it in a bottle & put in the refrigerator
